I worked a bit late, but still managed to make it to Berkeley in time to pick up a copy of Brian K Vaughn and Fiona Staples first issue of Saga and grabbed a slider and tots at Phil’s Sliders before heading to The Freight and Salvage to see a solo opening set from AG from The Rescues. Adrianne was opening for a band called Girlyman who had a pretty good crowd.
AG’s set was quite good for the forty minute slot she was allotted. Before singing Arrow, she explained that she wrote the song and it helped her through the rough times after The Rescues were signed to their fantasy record label and then their dreams were shattered. It is too bad such a crappy thing lead to such a good song. AG was joined by members of Girlyman throughout her set and had a long line at the merch booth after she finished wowing the crowd from the stage.
We picked up her latest CD and a handmade pendant with lyrics from Arrow in it for my wife. She recognized my wife as being a fan of Kyler’s and I said we were on our Rescues solo act tour. I was glad to have made it to the show.
Next, we celebrated Pi Day belatedly at Nation’s with a slice of no sugar added apple and a slice of chocolate creme. It was a fitting cap to a nice evening across the bay.
